Try some reading comprehension. Some countries Feds do send whoever they want. Some don't. Scotland and Switzerland don't. How hard is this to understand?

.

You keep saying feds, you do know the Swiss federation refers to the countries official name The Swiss Confederation. The Swiss curling body is Swiss curling association. Also not all European countries are federations.

Oh ok, so we agree, no need to say the "you don't know what you are talking about" part then, how hard is that to understand.

Well sorry but it's confusing only Switzerland is referred to as a federation. You also threw Sweden into the mix making even less sense.

well the team she is coaching is skipped by the girls she had as her alternate when she won worlds in 2012 so there's a connection there

just a blurb about the junior worlds:

it appears that all 4 matches in the medal games will be between teams that have already played twice in this event. i cant remember a world event on any level that saw 12 repeat matches in the same event

canada is probably heavily favored in the womens final given how easily they have disposed of scotland both times before

mens final will be far more interesting . switzerland should have won that page playoff so you know they will want revenge

bronze games have again both been won previous times by the same team. sweden has manhandled switzerland twice on the womens side while sweden has had 2 comfortable wins over scotland on the mens side

We've seen Jones struggle in Worlds before, but this will be Kaitlyn's first appearance - and since the 2013 Olympic Trials this team has been almost unbeatable in the games that matter most. A successful trip to Japan earlier this season (winners of the Karuizawa International) might well be a harbinger of good things to come.

Old Jenn struggled. Not this one. She'll do as she did in Sochi.

I would have thought that in the majority of cases, the final is played between the two teams that played in the 1/2 and of course played each other in the RR.

maybe but its pretty unusual to see that kind of thing happen where you have games going on where in each medal match up the teams involved have all played each other 3 times previously

But BEWARE KELSEY ROCQUE - this young woman is unlike any other junior women's curler I've seen come thru the pipeline. Self-assured, technically solid and really team-oriented. Can't emphasize the latter trait enough.

Can u imagine Alberta women's curling now? While Val dominates the scene, Heather Nedohin is a couple steps behind but whoaaaa, Kelsey Rocque might be comin' on strong. Rocque could easily exceed Nedohin in 2016; perhaps coming up to Sweeting standards by the next Olympic trials.

Sweeting, Rocque, Nedohin. I'm afraid Chelsea Carey made a poor strategical decision when she moved out of Manitoba. She might be better off finding some good young curlers and basing herself out of Kelowna, BC. Much easier route to the Scotties.

lets just wait and see. there are a long list if great junior teams that have never made that transition and kelsey could easily be another one of them

Have no fear, ML! She'll do well. She is Canada's best and most consistent curler now. More confident of her winning gold than Simmons/Morris.

Wherever you live one of draws will be at an awkward time. For me (in EDT) it's the afternoon draw. No question though I will be recording the Sco/Can contest.

Greenroad, for those of us who love Aussie Rules Football, it's no problem...repeat after me...

"More Coffee...More Coffee, More Coffee"

...and none of that "Decaf" stuff-that's not real coffee!

I don't know how many of you followed the U.S. Nationals (same week as Scotties), but their women's rink actually finished third in the nationals (behind veterans Erika Brown and Patti Lank). Based on earlier spiel results their "fate was sealed". There's a wee bit of fallout "Down There".

Looks like the German Curling Federation struck again.. Andrea Schopp won the National title, but due to her recent actions they decided to send Daniela Dreindl's team to the Worlds (apparently this was decided well before the Nationals).

A bit of an unknown team, the only player (I think?) with recent Worlds experience is Stella Heiss, who left Team Lehmann just a few months ago to join Team Driendl. Daniela did participate in the 2000 Worlds as a third. Can't see them fairing too well.

From what I have been able to read from news reports in Germany, she has been slamming the German Curling Federation every chance she gets. It all stems back to last year when 3 of her team members left her mid-season and they allowed that team to play at Nationals and not Andrea.

Then this year, when she wasn't picked to play in Europeans, she launched a lawsuit (which she eventually won)

OK thanks, I tried looking up why but couldn't find any news on her except for the court case. Sucks for her and for German curling.

Act 1. Team Andrea Schopp won the German qualifier last year for Euros but her federation decided to send Team Daniela Driendl, who had leave the Euros venue when a German Court ruled that federation didn't follow its own rules right before the first Euros draw. Team Schopp places high enough for Germany to have a Women's World berth this year.

Act 2. German federation selects a women's team to go to Worlds before the the start of play of the German nationals. Team Schopp wins her nationals. I'm guessing that federation changed its written rules before its nationals to avoid another court verdict loss. (Bonus drama! The German Olympic Committee defunded the German curling federation last year.)

Act 3. We'll see how non-national champion teams do at Worlds.
