so you solicit your own approval by asking people to vote for yourself? Something not right about that

I voted but she is up against figured skaters, bob sledders & other sports. A vote for Jen is a vote for curling.

Done. The year Team Jones had was incredible. It deserves at least a close look.

I think the major threats to Jennifer are the great Christine Sinclair from soccer (Olympic bronze) and Megalu the womens rugby player who helped Canada to a silver medal in world competition. Genie Bouchard, the 20 yr old Montreal phenom is another potential threat with a huge following (The Genie Army of which I'm a member) but Genie has only had about 1/3 of a year of great tennis (slithering into the final four of the first 2 majors, getting into the Wimbledon final where she was man-handled and totally stunned by Petra Kvitova. As of the time of this writing Genie is still alive at the U.S. Open, playing tonite in the 3rd round. If she wins the U.S. Open I suspect she might take the duke over Jones. However, with a monster like Serena Williams still lurking Genie would be fortunate to get to the semi-final, let alone the final! [/B]

None of the women mentioned in your article except Jones, are in the final ten.

Its September and the idiocy has shown up already.
These are the ones we should be discussing
Nadine Angerer
Valerie Arioto
Meryl Davis
Annika Dries
Alisha Glass
Kaillie Humphires & Heather Moyse
Jennifer Jones
Maya Moore
April Ross & Kerri Walsh-Jennings
Florence Scheling

Angerer will win.

I sincerely hope that the stick figure puppet does not win! Her contribution to figures skating is a joke. Go Jen!

Vote for curling?

However, it should be a vote for the team, NOT the skip as it's a team sport.....There is no way she'd be able to make any of her shots without her team setting her up. Far too often the skip gets credit for everything the team has done on front of them, as well as what the TEAM did for them on their shots. The real question is, why is it just Jennifer getting nominated and not the team?

btw - while Jennifer has 3 or 4 other team members she basically carried that team thru both the Olympic trials and then the Sochi Olympic games. Dawn is a world class lead and Jilly is one of the best seconds around (top brusher and great spirit) it was Jones who basically carried her team on her shoulders and brought home gold to Canada.

To help you narrow down what awards are covered, these are the categories.

Wilma Rudolph Courage Award
Billie Jean King Contribution Award
Sportswoman of the Year Award Individual
Sportswoman of the Year Award Team

An update on Sportswoman of the Yr

http://www.womenssportsfoundation.org/

Was surfing this afternoon and was wondering when the awards will be presented for the 2014 Sportswoman of the year. Seems the awards will be on October 15th. WOW, really stiff competition. Some of the past athletes have made incredible contributions to sports. The results will be interesting.

Well, at least Jennifer didn't win.

Any person who openly and boldly solicits the public to vote for him/herself clearly lacks genuine humility. And it seems obvious to me that genuine humility should be one of the required qualities of a 'Sports Woman of the Year'.
