I for one admire so much the dedication and hard work that all top level women curlers in Canada put into this great game. the problem for most teams is that life gets in the way. Many women curlers in canada have full time jobs, and in many cases kids to look after as well. Try to add in competitive curling to this package and it is really a challenge and amazing that so many teams can still seriously pursue the holy grail!

Top level curlers in most other contending countries have a full ride (Scotland - Eve Muirhead, David Murdoch, Team China Men and women, Edin from Sweden, etc) and can really focus on curling. If we want our women to have a great shot at gold/silver, we need to find a way to better reward the top 3 or 4 teams so that they can give curling the priority it deserves in their complicated lives.

Our country has alot of depth, how should those 3 or 4 be choosen, should it be based on ctrs performance or potential, how exactly?

Nedohin and her pretenders thankfully will fade away as well.

Shumay may be the surprise, anyone who can beat Lawton has to be pretty good.

Picks :

1-Homan Wins
2-Runner-up-Scott or Shumay

Possible Playoff Teams-MB and NS

LOL. Did you forget to take your meds?

JJ has how many titles? Homan has how many titles? Until you can back up what your saying don't bother spouting off. Your just embarrasing yourself.

Your words are kinda harsh but it can't be denied that the Jones team is on a slippery slope downward. Last year they didnt even make it to the final. Come playoff time Kaitlyn Lawes will have to shoot lights out in order for the Jones team to reverse the trend

Good points Earl. Our amateur athletes are not well supported in this country. The 2012 Olympic results illustrate that.

I love how their downward slope is third place at the national championship. I will deny they're on this slope downward. They're still one of the top three teams in the country and they are co-favourites with Homan I'd say.

I agree. No downward slope there.Katy is playing great and Jen is showing no rust at all.And no,they didn't make the finals last year, only by losing an incredibly close measure.I was in Red Deer for the playoffs last year and everyone was shocked when the measure went against the Jones team, everyone thought they had it.Regardless, they are one of the best teams there, love her or hate her,you can't deny that.

The site has Kristin MacCuish, Jill's niece, as Jones' fifth. Interesting.

ML, are you for real? Suspicious measuring? So are you accusing officials of fixing the game? Nedohin of bribing? Complete incompetency that no one including jones team could see (except for you)?

Also, overweight draw? If it stopped for shot rock it was not overweight. Are we to start calling every draw for a point that does not stop on the pin either "light" or "heavy" depending on which side of he tee line it is on?

Get over it....

It appears some people dont understand the concept of "downward slope" Is JJs team a Top 3 womens team in Canada..Yes.. But three straight championships followed by a loss in a final followed by a semifinal loss is a downward slope

You call it a "downward slope", I call it being amazingly consistent.....something that only the best teams in the world can pull off.

Colleen

Colleen may not get out in the Senior after getting out in the STOH after all. She was 4th of 4 teams going into play tonight, but beat Nix to be tied for third now. Top 3 of the 4 teams get in the playoffs, after the double RR.

Colleen Jones plays Colleen Pinkney (Former Canadian and World Senior champ) and Pinkney beat Jones 8-6 the first time they played in the double round robin. Depending on what happens between Matatall and Nix, Jones might end up 4th and out of the playoffs.

NS Senior

ML, how many scotties titles did jones win with this occurring "so often" with Cathy O? and how many have they won with KL?

Cold hard facts are irrelevant to ML.. He spins things and says things that suit what he likes and ignores the truth

2011 Scotties Final

Jennifer Jones 68%
Amber Holland 83%

2012 Scotties semi final

Jennifer Jones 74%
Heather Nedohin 90%

Those are the facts Jack!!!

Crawford won't take her legacy lying down. 8-5 over Robichaud in Draw 13 of NBScotties. Lots predicting Robichaud. Playoffs will tell the tale, I guess. Go Andrea.

What point are you making, exactly? I notice you didn't pull up percentages from the previous Scotties finals. I wonder why that could be? But it's ML who finds "facts" irrelevant.

Wow. Adams sure has been on a roll over in NB. Knocked off Robichaud in the semi now will face Crawford - who slaughtered her in the first game of the RR. She sure has momentum behind her. It's like she really really wants this! Don't know the team, but should be a barn-burner of a NB Scotties final. Have at 'em.

It'll be a battle of Canadian Junior Champs for the New Brunswick title.

And single game percentages are supposed to prove anything? Maybe you shouldn't post unless you know a little something about the game.

Single game percentages may give a small clue to shot selection (on the DGR the teams get, not the media report as per sample). Teams only get a cumulative report after the fifth draw (on Sunday night, and after the last draw of the day each day thereafter) after everyone has played at least 3 games. That's the minimum considered to be statistically significant by the CCA.

I tend to look at shot selection (# of inturns, # of hits, # of outturn draws etc.) as much as, and sometimes more than, just percentages, in setting up a game plan against a team.
