No more posting

Lots of curling happening and I haven’t seen posts for some time and none on the current grand slam. Is participation on this forum toast?

Was wondering this as well. Maybe because there's so many other social media platforms?

I would imagine its because its a pita to have to sign in every time. Gerry said to email him for a fix. I've emailed several times. NOTHING!

Yes usually there is a flurry of posting around grand slams. However with sign in issues, people are staying away. A shame.

If you forget your password, this site doesn't have an automatic reset like other sites. I think the password request is sent into a dark hole somewhere...

I just come here to check scores. There are two people on this forum that ruin it for me, so I stay away.

This has reached the point where it is now beyond pathetic...

No posts, no participation, it's obvious that no-one is taking care of this forum - it is simply left to manage itself, with a list of bugs that are continually ignored.

Now I see on the left hand side of the page, there is every single score from every bonspiel on the planet listed. This is replacing the very practical list of most recent posting activity. Previously, we had a small box with scores from one bonspiel and options to click on for results of other bonspiels - the information was there if we wanted it, but without taking up a huge amount of space.., and under that was a list of the most recently active threads. This may be yet another bug - and/or just another sign of the neglect this forum has suffered from recently.

The death of this forum / message board began with the change to the new format. Prior to that, things were fine, the board was more active, etc. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'... sigh...
But the format was changed, resulting in many, many problems - most of which have been completely ignored.

It's a damned and bloody shame, because this place could be a very positive and enjoyable thing for many knowledgeable curling fans - as well as being educational for the curling curious... if only we were respected enough to ensure that this forum/board runs efficiently.

Most forums/groups cull the troublemakers.

I really like this site. My problem was that I made the mistake of checking my status and profile. Ever since it's been a schmozzle. Can't edit or update or change or save my profile. Now EVERY time I visit this site I have to sign in TWICE. Once under forum, and then once it's refused, back to the main page again to sign in.

Frustrating, but still like it.

It's perfectly fine so long as you NEVER click the edit tab on your profile and try to make changes. After that, forget it. You're in for hell.

All most every newspaper that allowed posting has now restricted it ...

A very low % of visitors post - they never show posting hits as cz does

I am guessing the majority of visitors are looking at scores and hence the lack of interest by the site in encouraging posting

Pretty sure there is no other curling site that allows - not aware of any other curling site period

In 20 years most curling viewers will be in curling heaven with me, the current group aren’t big spenders - stair climbers , cc Little Rock promotion ads, farm products ,

Viewing seemed to peak about 2010 olympics - a million viewers for major events

I’m guessing it’s down as that stat is seldom released

In 5 years the slams will likely be held in 2000 seat max arenas or clubs , the briar and scot will still be popular .. I’m guessing the world event will disappear , won’t miss it personally , every current elite curler will have retired ,

Advertisers will have found another venue and cameras will be controlled by computers and there will be max 2 commentators

Perhaps they will separate the men from women events too

Many provinces fund their athletes and curlers are in on this as much as any others.

So the elite teams will continue to draw funding from provincial authorities, the national champions also draw from a national treasury.

The elite guys & gals, mixed & doubles will make a little extra sauce curling in the cash events.

The disparity is the performance difference between elite curlers (75 to 90%) across the board vs. average to top club curlers - 40% to 80%

In days of yore the better club curlers usually had a half decent chance to win their province. Still true in a couple provinces but when they get to the nationals - they're basically fawns!

In a national final a third should know his place and allow his skip to call his own shots

If skip makes first shot in tenth and wants to play it again to secure victory

Better not to distract him and end up playing hit on old dog in 12 foot

A victory lost

Lots of misses and strange shots in jr women and old Scottie’s

6-1. Final 6-133 Bad !

Hard to watch with screaming , pls demiic front end

Btw is not brushing its dusting and makes very little difference

A few men can actually make a difference with pressure - the rest are keeping warm - better to sit on bench and have a cigarette

I tried and tried and then concluded that CZ was under new ownership - but I was wrong. I was reading your posts in my non-absence. Gerry emailed me a new password and I'm G2G. He said he has too many irons in the fire and not enough time to keep up. Good luck Gerry. Thanks for the new pw.
