I don't want to watch Laycock and Gushue.
I want to watch McEwen / Edin like it says on the schedule.

Have hardly seen anything of Gushue...not sure what you are complaining about.

Proud Manitoban. 4 of 8 teams in the semi's are from Manitoba. That after starting with 30 teams. Our curling programs appear to be in fine shape.

Very strong Manitoba team at this point only a tad behind Jones as a competitive group. Just don't have the polish and strategy under duress JJ possesses.
Should really have polished off an obviously off-form Homan team but played way too tight!
Jones isn't really on total form ether - letting Silvana surpass her and frittering away a 3-0 early lead before Silvana collapsed in final couple ends.
FINAL shouldn't be that close if Homan returns to form. Very few teams can compete with the relentless and accurate shot-pelting Homan generates.
Jones has identified 3 forms of curling kryptonite she's allergic to.
1. World championship playoffs.
2. Any team Cathy O plays for
3. Rachel Homan
JJ's record is poor to mediocre in any of these categories!
Yes Homan is certainly her kryptonite. What an awful way for you to end the curling season, with Jones winning the final event lol. Why do I feel like that is poetic justice after all the trash you constantly throw out about her. Oh well, this fall your 'hate-on' will no doubt begin again.

Jen really got a monkey off her back by disposing of Rachel like nobody's bidness. Even Kaitlyn came to play against her long-time fremesis and out-curled Emma.
Great double-raise double for 3 in the sixth sealed the deal for Team Jones and enabled them to climb past Tirinzoni for 2nd on the money list.
In post-game Jones said she'll try to return sometime in October. No word yet on who she selected as early replacement.
Getting a bit of help of Rachel not having the best of days (mainly on her draws) and ending the curling year in a bit of down note (for their cyborg, machine standards) didn't help matters.

there were a fair number of decisions that epping made that game that i just was shocked by. the decision to draw in the 7th and leave reid lying shot when it had to be so precise was just boneheaded. im hitting that rock all day. i get not wanting to let him blank but every draw had to be perfect. hit and try and roll and if he blanks he blanks.
and that that red draw on his last in the 8th if that was an inch heavier reid's roll out on his last would have meant that rock was his winning steal point.
before anyone says it im not suggesting he decided to be light but was just pointing out that if he wasnt he'd have won with that shot.

Missed both finals! Heard they were good ones. I would like to watch a replay but don't know where to go, or if I even can. Clicking on "watch curling" on this website only takes me to the TV schedule that was. Am I out of luck or is there some way to watch a replay? Thanks in advance!

Even though mens final went double extra ends the womens final was far more interesting - ie. more rocks in play. Eppy vs. Reid was a fairly cautious affair and as some commentators have opined, John took more risks and had at least 1 highly questionable call. Both guys appeared a bit frozen/unfamiliar in the season-ending biggy. Reid had a fairly open out-turn hit on a final stone tap-out in the 9th but he over-threw (or was wide) and rolled out by quite a bit. Hoss Moskowy was asleep at the switch, failing to notice a raise-up guard coming near the house and didn't sweep the stone - it eventually required a measure and was out by a fraction.
Both skips were less than stellar in the 2nd extra end - Reid had a long loping draw to full button with zero backing - at the top of the 8 foot he looked back 8 weight but the thing dug in at the tee-line and curled into the winning position by about 2 inches.
The womens game was the bomb. Jones has developed a wariness to the accurate shot-pelting of Homan last few years. But this game featured a turnaround by Kaitlyn Lawes vs. the consensus best 3rd in the world (Emma Miskew) and Lawes dominated Emma in all respects.
Still took a massive double raise double by Jones to put away the mean girls - a shot we don't really see much anymore from JJ. But we saw it Sunday and IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND MASSIVE!
Jones has a highly skilled and refined team in tow - and we won't see her until at least mid-November with an expected August/Sept. pregnancy.
When all the JJs are on their game they are exceptionally difficult to beat. Even with Jones notoriously mediocre line calls. That said, both Homan and Jones curled 93% according to official scoring - however, Kaitlyn dominating Emma made the difference. THAT, and Jones magnificent J-Bomb in the last half of the match.
Thanks ML, now I want to watch both finals even more! Still don't know if it is a possibility though.

i agree, the womens game was far more entertaining. games where teams arent blanking half the game away always are
and it was great to see jen finally win something big on the money tour again

With the win - Jones has the most grand slam wins of all womens teams - with 6.
Rachel has 5, 4 of which were accomplished in this incredible season (other than falling at the hands of Jenn Hanna in the Ontario final)
Funny though - this was Jones first grand slam win other than the Players - which she's dominated.
as an afterthought Lisa Weagle curled her usual superb game - throwing up 83% but was out-curled by Dawn McEwen who bowled a perfect game, 100%.
6 is the most? i thought it would be higher than that. but i suppose it demonstrates also just how much more even the womens game is compared to the men

I was surprised also by that number but when they showed the breakdown for all of the Slams I then remembered that the women have only recently started playing in all of the Slams. Maybe at one time they were not even in any....
