RE: New Era
Don't know if it is a new era...but, even with the surprises of yesterday, this Scotties promises to be just as much fun to watch as any other. It will be interesting to see how far Jenn Hanna gets this time around. And for those with a flair for the dramatic, a Hanna / Jones final would really be something else!
Great to see Krista McCarrville back again. She had a great run in Sault Ste Marie in 2010 and as much as I sympathize with Team Fleurey, I can see Krista etal having another great run.
I was glad to see Team Einerson get in there. I also liked McDonald but Einerson has had a couple of losses in 2 previous finals so it was good to see her go through.
I, for one, am looking forward to the Scotties and I'm sure it will be just as entertaining as any other Scotties that I have viewed over the years.

Interesting how in this "Team Sport", criticism invariably takes such a personal turn.
What's wrong-don't you have the "stones" to go to the venue and fight each other like they do in soccer? That would be more fitting...but something tells me that "stones" are not a condition of posting here.

I agree. One thing is for sure Jones will play Hanna in the RR at the Scotties.

Of course the CCA set it up that way- so the two favs were to play in the last draw. Homan- Jones.

Top Two Seeds, I'd imagine. Yes? (aka favourites 8-/ )

However, can't quite see Hanna slotted in at #2...
That seeding will probably go to Alberta (Carey)
Just because she's been a tour regular with a bronze medal finish to her credit.
Krista McCarville toppled another tour regular (Fleury) and she's also seen past Scotties action!
My guess on seedings:
1. Team Canada - Jones
2. Alberta - Carey
3. Northern Ont. - McCarville
4. Ontario - Hanna
5. Sask'n - Lawton
6. Manitoba - Einarson
7. PEI - Birt
8. BC - Thompson (f she makes it thru qualifying)
9. QUE - Larouche
The field.....
Wouldn't surprise me if they ranked McCarville ahead of Carey or even Lawton over Hanna. (if Lawton gets thru)
If Englot (or another) gets thru Sask'n I'd put Einarson ahead of them.
i dont know how you have larouche that low when this is someone who, in 6 scotties appearance as skip has missed the playoffs only once. 1 silver, 1 bronze, and 3 4ths.i'd have her up at at least 6th, maybe 5th ,depending on who gets out of saskatchewan. its a slap in the face to have a complete unknown in karla thompson ahead of her

Thompson had good provincial and she did play well vs Scott. How she handles the big stage remains to be seen. She will have to work her way out of relegation before anything.oLarouche, on the other hand, is no stranger to the Scotties so I do rate her higher in the seeding than does ML. I also think Einerson might be a tough cookie.
And if this is the year of upsets, you might even see Strong make it to the page playoff.

Since the scotties schedule is set up months in advance, the seeds are probably determined by the results of the previous scotties.

No. Not seeding, I guess, but saving the best to last in the layout of the round robin draw, seems to be the usual technique. Is that accurate?

Sorry I did not mean to suggest there was an actual seeding per se. I was just alluding to an arbitrary ranking based on speculation on the thread. Just an opinion, nothing more.
I agree that J J would be one of the favorited but boy, this is curling, and sometimes when curling happens, in the end....who knows?
