Just looking at my remote and I have two different buttons that might help you. One is called "mute" the other "volume"

They scream just like the men do, their voices are higher that is what makes them sound louder.

Enjoy the curling.

Screaming

Gee, never knew about mute and volume buttons. I happen to enjoy most of the announcers. JJ screams when not needed., then KL joins in. Most of the men holler when needed.

The issue is that they're in a building with a low roof and for the players to hear each other over others is that they have to do so. We hear it the way we do because they've got mics on, but that doesn't mean they can hear each other on the ice.

They yell as loud as they need to to get the job done.

I just hit the mute button as soon as they let go of the rock, then un-mute just in time to hear Jennifer say sorry Kaitlyn for screwing up the line call.

Of these first 3 games Canada has not played well at all and are very lucky the other teams curled 30-40% at best. Still, a win is a win so go Canada go.

It's part of the game. Heck, we got skips at our club that can get players three sheets over to sweep when they bellow. And sometimes you can't get your own team to sweep while scaring players on the adjacent sheet. It's noisy out there with multiple games going.

Seems it would be easy for whomever is broadcasting a game (TSN, Sportsnet, etc.) to lower the pick-up volume during shots - meaning while the rock is in motion.
Because the screaming is excessive and annoying.

I realize it's part of the game, and I don't blame the players (although yelling unnecessarily loud is certainly lacking respect for the other active games - we've all experienced teams who yell louder than needed) - and, as viewers, we want to hear the yelling, as it tells us whether the throw is inside, outside, or on the broom - but it would seem that the broadcasters could easily just lower the pick-up a few notches during shots.

really, can know one just watch and be glad they able to watch it.

Either they are screaming, someone doesn't like the announcers, etc.

They can scream all they like, it was very loud in that building tonight.

Not really caring if you were joking or not.....just watch and enjoy!

If it was easy to do, they would be doing it. The problem is you never know when a shot is going to require end to end sweeping versus standard communication. Hearing a little too much of the screaming is the trade-off for being able to clearly hear the players talking.

In the control room - or truck - there is a person who controls the volume levels of Vic, Cheryl, and Russ (or Rob, Mike, and Kevin for Sportsnet) - the volume levels for each are probably independent of each other.
Likewise, there is someone (perhaps the same person) controlling the volume levels of the players. After all, someone is switching the volume pick-up between the teams (we never hear both teams speaking at the same time - someone either switches the microphones on & off, or switches what is broadcast from one team to the other).

All I'm saying is that the volume level of the players can be turned down a few notches during shots. It would have to be done manually, of course - but it can be done.
They could turn down the pick-up for the players while still allowing us to clearly hear Vic say "Here comes the guard! Here comes the guard! Ooohh - are they by...?" because Vic's microphone is obviously separate from the microphones the players use. Each microphone is on a different 'channel'.

The way I see it, hearing the yelling too loudly is not the trade-off for being able to hear the players, because it is possible to turn the volume pick-up of the players up during their discussions, and to turn it down during shots. Maybe no-one wants the responsibility of manually turning it down 160 times per game - but it seems to me that it's certainly possible to do it.

Smile

I hit the mute button whenever KL and JJ begin yelling. I also silence the TV when Vic Rauter begins to over-dramatize the result of the last rock.

But it gets even worse. I always have the entire Raptor game on mute.

Seems to me all the women scream like banshees! I don't know how their voices hold up. I guess there is something to the genetics of the species!

I remember Russ Howard bringing a whistle out at the Birer, maybe Saskatoon?
