Don't think anyone replaces Amy. She's a warrior to be sure - with a storied curling career. Not even 40!

The smart money is probably on Team Carey disbanding. No more auto-berths, not quite enough points to qualify for the Olympic trials.

If bronze @ STOH puts them into the Trials - slight chance they re-configure - move Joss up to 3rd and try to find a new 2nd player! If they still don't qualify for the trials I suspect they'll disband; perhaps Peterman is ready for skipping - maybe Laine works with her at lead for a year or two as the veteran presence!

Yeah, I don't think they'd skip out on that Olympic pre-qualifying berth. The carrot at the end of the stick is just too enticing. I think a young, strong sweeper would really help the team, too.

My calculations show Carey will move to 13 in YTD standings....first alternate should anybody turn down a players invite...then they could try pass Flaxey for last auto berth.

The 3 remaining members have to talk about it. I think the possibility of going to an Olympic year and that they would lose public funding is too hard to not stick together for 1 year especially with a shot at the Olympics.

My bet would be on Kate Cameron if Englot's team disbands. Similar personality and better shot-making overall.

what makes you think Englot 's team has any chance of disbanding? Seems an odd statement.

Personally I think Carey moving back to MB to skip this team makes too much sense. Englot was incredible at this scotties. But you can't expect her to play much longer. Her team is super legit and they complement each other very well. Also-imagine Val Sweeting skipping this team? Wouldn't that team, atleast on paper, provide the biggest threat to Homan for years to come?

Amy's name is still listed on the roster on the Team Carey twitter page but the photos were quickly changed to feature just the three remaining members. I'll be very interested to see where they go from here. As mentioned, the Olympic carrot is huge.

Val needs a renaissance - simply put she's just missing too many shots. At one time I had her head to head with Homan, certainly a better draw player and almost as good a hitter as Rachel - NOW, not so much. Rachel is at least equivalent to Val on draws - far superior on hits.

Really don't understand how Val could have frittered away a chance to confront Rachel at this year's STOH - no JJ, no Lawton, not much else other than the mystery of Michelle Englot.

Of course, Rachel frittered away a couple of Ontario Scotties - one to Horgan and the other to Jenn Hanna!

But with Team Jones starting to show obvious deteriorating and Jones missing shots she used to make blind-folded there needs to be a quality unit to take on Homan.

Englot, nearing 55 is simply a marvel - and that team Cameron put together is probably the best group to take on the Ottawa MGs.

Personally, I think Englot should stay with the program for another season - given how close she is to getting into the Olympic Trials. Can see Val doing the same thing in Alberta - no doubt Jones will keep her group thru the Trials - and possibly make one more play at the 2018 Scotties - ie. if the form chart holds - Homan wins the Olympic trials, Englot slides in to STOH as Team Canada and Jones only has the semi-erratic Einarson to get by in Manitoba.

WARNING: Changes galore after the trials!

To end the crazy conspiracy theories. It will be Cathy Overton-Clapham who will replace Nixon.

Wow. Good gig. Deep MB roots - to old school, through to the new game. I think we will see respect from CC - and that COC will not be rattled (read, annoyed) by Chelsea's nervous blather. Might work. My immediate take. Didn't see it coming.

Do we know yet who is joining Laycock?

Neither can I, from what I've seen and heard Cathy doesn't suffer fools easily.

Me, I've found Chelsea to be a first-class person. I wish her, Cathy and team the best of luck moving forward.

I agree. It could be a great combo. Chelsea is a marvelous person. On ice, she is a bit transparent though. She is not what one would call "calm" and because of this, sometimes inconsistent. Lots of room for growth and CathyO is a giving person. I look forward to seeing this team perform.

Can't argue with those points. I think Chelsea is so driven by a will to succeed that she has trouble letting go of bad games. But I've seen her graciousness toward fans even immediately after those games and that impresses me greatly. I think adding Cathy is a superb move.

Is this move a fait accompli - or still just a strong belief?

No doubt Cathy O would accept the call-up, she's as driven by retribution vs. Jones as Chelsea is to winning titles!

Both Cathy & CC can be irascible at times so they should be able to co-exist nicely!

Sweeting is pretty much sewn up a spot so none of her girls (or Val herself) will be available)

I suppose they could bring in Crystal Webster but Webster lacks experience at the very highest levels of curling - Cathy O DOES NOT.

Cathy can make every shot in the book - not quite stable enough in her delivery to launch rockets like Homan, Jones, Muirhead but she's so well-versed in the game. Also knows some of the keys to defeating the other top girls - particularly Jones. Might have more trouble confronting Homan - as Homan is superior to Carey in most every way, including demeanour. I would be lying to say Cathy is equal or even close to Miskew.

Wonder what they have to do to qualify for a trials spot?

TSN sez here that Carey is guaranteed a spot at the pre-trials.

I think with Cathy on board, they have a good chance of qualifying through points for the trials, if not then a great chance to qualify through the pre-trials.

I am still on the fence about the pair getting along. During the Slams when Cathy was subbing for Silvia, I did see her get rather sharp tongued with them.

Yes. She could be a stand-up comic. Very sharp-tongued woman. If you know her - you appreciate it. Kinda thinking out loud - shrewd and accurate for the most part. I think Chelsea knows her nature. Kind. Never ill intent. We'll see how Jocelyn, Laine and Susan take it - but pretty sure it will be all good. Laughs come just as easily. Good luck Team Carey.

If Cathy doesn't take another bus west I suppose Susan O'Connor isn't that bad a consolation prize (at 3rd)

Susan is younger than Cathy O, she knows these girls far better than Cathy O and she's been to the high mountains!

According to the to the Team Carey twitter page, it's a done deal with CathyO..
