Laura Crocker - Kirk Muyres

She may not have the shot-making profile of Jennifer Jones, Rachel Homan or Kevin Koe but Laura Crocker may be the singular greatest young curling ambassador this country has.

The great gesture to put Humboldt Broncos patches on their non-sliding knees is just one example.

See attached article by CBC.

But Crocker offers far more than that. Her graceful and exceptional demeanour has always been noted since her junior days. Now in her late 20s, without the career success of fellow late 20'rs like Homan, Emma Miskew, Joanne Courtney, Kaitlyn Lawes, etc. Ambassador Laura has found her way.

Kirk Muyres is one lucky guy. He might not be curling with a Rachel Homan automaton clone - or a feisty 'get off the floor' and start taking names type like Kaitlyn Lawes but he's been drawn into the role Laura Crocker now excels at. Being Canada's #1 Curling Ambassador.

So sometimes you don't have to be the greatest shot-maker on the planet. She isn't. Not even close in her own country actually.

But that doesn't matter. The important question - the question all of us should ask at various points in our lives is WHAT CAN ONE PERSON DO?

Laura Crocker has begun to answer the question!

Somewhat of a puzzling post complimenting Crocker left and right when the article in question barely mentions her at all.

The article is about Muyres' connection to Humboldt, and how it was his idea to put the Broncos patches on their pants.

I like Crocker - I find her quite genuine and likeable. But the post above is a misleading description of Crocker's role regarding the Broncos patches, and of the article in question.

Muyres is Saskatchewan bred and no doubt closer to the Humboldt tragedy - but he would have had to consult Crocker and Jeff Stoughton (coach) to place the knee crests. A great idea btw.

That said - Crocker is a superb ambassador for Canada. Muyres will learn much from the experience, no doubt.

Hopefully Laura will learn more about being a top drawer curling killer - something she's been touted for years but seldom delivering!
