Anyone else enjoying the great play between Edin and Jacobs?
Koe just has not "got it" whether at the brier or here.
Wonder if they will stay together?

wow... Edin is making some great shots and the last one in 7 was something else. Hey, does Harris not realize that a rock takes the opposite turn after it gets tapped... twice he was shocked when the rock took the inturn after getting hit with the outturn.

Actually, it does also depend where the rock is struck and with what force, but you're generally correct and yes I'm certain Mike is aware of this. Sounded to me like he was doing a Vic Rauter impression.

Why do we seem to always jump to the idea that a team that doesn't win everything needs to disband.

They won Alberta, They were a game away from the play-offs in a very competitive Brier where 3 of 4 members were All-stars.
They gained a bye to the semi-final in this event, and then lost a single game.

They are ranked 6th on CTRS (possibly higher after this week). Do they expect to be higher? Sure. But this is year 1 in a 4 year plan. Would be foolish to jump ship and start over now.

I've been saying for a couple of years that I believe Edin to be the best pure shot-maker in the world and last night he certainly lived up to that billing, what a game! The problem has been maintaining a high level of performance on a consistent basis like a McEwen or Jacobs, that's where the separation occurs. I won't even mention legends like Martin or Howard, that standard is unfair to anyone.

Team Koe needs a vice-skip. Laing has adapted to calling line in the house and he's still a top second %-wise, but he just isn't the support system that Koe needs.

7th end of the final with Team Edin playing red stones. Runback double. Red shooter rolling away from the centre line was stopped by Team Edin sweeper.

They spent a moment trying to figure out where the shooter was going to end up. Cue "greatest sport ever" speeches from the commentators.

I would have been nice had the commentators mentioned what the options actually were, assuming they actually knew what they were (unlikely).

The options were, since Team Edin touched one of they own moving stones: let the play stand, remove the stone from play, or put the stone where they think it would have ended up.

Wow, we're being treated to a great televised Elite 10 final this afternoon. Remember Gushue's shot in the Brier RR? Like that, over and over.

its been an interesting trial year for koe. obviously they did well , they won the alberta title but they struggled at the brier. In assessing their season i think its been a disapointing one overall. when your as accustomed to winning as much as all those guys are its , in a way been one to forget.

lets see how they do next year before we judge if this will work

Both teams that got the bye to the semis lost there so maybe there is some benefit to momentum although I'm sure Gushue and Carruthers wouldn't agree. Edin certainly seemed to adapt very well to the format and made some shots that probably wouldn't be tried in standard curling. I think the biggest adjustment is that it doesn't matter how many you give up to the team with hammer over two. It is just so ingrained to try and limit big ends. In any event, an interesting experiment.

I don't think they will make any changes, nor should they, but the reason people always jump to the idea that a team that doesn't win everything needs to disband is that teams that expect to win everything and don't, do tend to make changes.

I dunno, I've played for a pretty long time and I thought it was tremendous. The level of shots being executed--in the playoffs especially--was outstanding. I know a vast majority of the players loved it.

Love it as a one-off event and I think the Slams are the perfect time to do it, as mentioned in this thread.

Have to agree. At least Martin knew when to walk away. Surprised they just don't do the Senior circuit or try mixed. There is a world mixed championship now.

I totally and completely agree with this post. Laing is a great second but Koe needs help in shot selection, broom placement and guidance from a completely reliable vice. Hope they manage to get it together soon. They are all so good.
