Sask Scotties
8 teams competing
Anderson, Barker, Campbell( coached by Russ Howard),
Englot, Lawton, Martin
Schneider, Silvernagle..
.. whoever wins that one will deserve it..
I think Sherri Anderson.. has the leadership.. and skipping savvy to pull her young Team thru to a win...

sherry middaugh defeats cathy auld, coming from 3-1 down and scoring 5 unanswered points to qualify for provincials.
oh and shannon kleibrink qualified through the A side for provincials.going to be interesting to see how she can do. Think the only one totally out of her reach is val.

Kleibrink -
Shannon is one of the smartest skips on the planet..
she just breezed thru the A qualifying for AB south..
If she gets good games out of her Team.. she could skip circles around Val and many teams...
I spotted her added talent with new Third Lisa Eyamie..a born Manitoban.. long curling career... dying to finally win a provincial...
beware the curler who has nothing to lose

Just shocking that ML could turn an Alberta provincials discussion into one of Jenn Jones. Shocking, I tell you.

Kleibrink ...in many curling conversations...
Shannon..won the right to rep Canada at the 2006 Olympics..
by winning the 2005 Trials in Halifax against such notables as JJones, CJones,SAnderson, Jan Betker, KScott, SMiddaugh, SLawton, MF Larouche
Then at Turin they won Bronze-
facing some of the greatest curlers in history..-Annette Norberg, D Nordby, 2002 Gold medalist R Martin, . M Ott
Shannon won the AB title Four times..
In 2008 Kleibrink went 10-1 at the Scotties .. to be edged in the final by MB
IF Kleibrink came from one of the auto-berth Provinces..
say Manitoba .. her record might have been much deeper..
She is also the first Women to skip to a Canadian Mixed title ..
she may not get out of AB.. but ....as I once wrote.. she could be a huge "spoiler"

IF (and its a big IF) Shannon can slither by Valberta and somehow hope against hope Homan gets toppled in Ontario (I'd say less than 5% chance) she'd have a decent chance against whats left in the field.
Obviously, the now fully unpredictable Jones would be her major impediment and Lawton or Englot from SK.
Whoever toppled Homan could also factor in but you have to ask whether a Homan-toppling would be more Homan being out of sorts with a combination of another team running hot during Ontario Scotties?
Personally, I don't believe Lisa Eyamie is an elite 3rd (even in Western Canada) but I've got a lot of time for Shannon. Nobody deserves another shot at Canadian gold than Kleibrink.
we've talked about it before. the greatest skips never to win a scotties. Kleibrink, anderson, larouche and middaugh. shannon has to be the best among those.
personally i'd love to see all 4 of those teams make the scotties, because with jen possibly out of sorts the chances of one of the 4 winning would be pretty good. of course the chances of all 4 getting there arent very good. larouche should but the other 3 will need some help

Vintage Kleibrink... 2005 Oly Trials Final - vs Scott
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3B...f1twyMTEyMjAxNQ
---------------
I do hope Val Sweeting comes out of Alberta.. just puzzled by her flubs this season..
seems like she doesn't get fierce into a game at times..
doesnt have the ice read EARLY enough.. drops huge scores to the opponent....
then gets down about it and ends up losing..
She IS the best in Alberta right now....however.. please get off that Roller coaster
.

Ontario Scotties
I give A Flaxey.. a higher chance of coming out of the province than Middaugh...
they generate a ton of offence and rolled over everyone in their qualifier..

they lost a major Baseball Team and the Nordiques...

2016 NOCA Scotties
Second year for this.. Fleury won last year
This year I think it will be a real battle
between Fleury and McCarville who is an outstanding skip

flaxey has a strong third in clancy grandy, the skip of the team that sherry only barely scraped by last year in the ontario semis. overall i think sherry just has a stronger team though and will present the biggest threat to rachel. that being said flaxey and hastings are also strong opposition. there is also cathy auld to consider.
fleury is a great team . i honestly could see it going either way with her and krista. Mccarville has won her last 3 events she's played in now and while 2 were weaker events her first win was in a very good field where she only lost once. either will make a great rep for northern ontario and will be dark horses to win the scotties.
and i disagree about marie-france not having support on her team. brenda is a great third . she can make a lot of shots and her and marie have great chemistry, they work very well together. annie lemay is a strong second , very good at her position and, again someone marie-france has curled with for most of her career. julie rainville rounds out the team as a strong lead. Im telling you, if this team gets hot they can beat pretty much anyone. they havent curled a lot this season though.
