Jamie Sinclair (Blaine, Minnesota, USA) wins the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic, defeating Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON) 6-5 at the Cornwall Curling Club in Cornwall, Ontario. Sinclair with Alexandra Carlson at third, Vicky Persinger and Monica Walker on the front end take home the $10,400CDN first place cheque along with 41.791 world ranking points, while McCarville receives $7,300CDN and 32.836 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Sinclair blanked the first end, got on the board scoring 3 in the second end, then forced McCarville to a single in the third end. Sinclair scored 2 in the fourth end to extend lead to 5-1, then forced McCarville to a single in the fifth end. Sinclair scored a single in the sixth end, McCarville responded in the seventh end scoring 2. added a steal in the eighth end fell shorty giving Sinclair the 6-5 win. In the semifinals, Sinclair defeated Hollie Duncan (Toronto, ON) 5-4 and McCarville defeated Eve Belisle (Montreal, QC) 7-3. Belisle won $3,800CDN, while Duncan won $3,700CDN along 25.373 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Duncan defeated Hannah Fleming (Lockerbie, SCO) 8-6 and Belisle defeated Laurie St-Georges (Laval, QC) 4-3. Fleming won $1,550CDN, while St-Georges earned $1,450CDN along with 17.911 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Sinclair went 4-0 in the 16 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Sinclair defeated Chrissy Cadorin (Thornhill, ON) 7-2, won against Duncan 9-7, and St-Georges 7-1, finally finishing the round-robin undefeated with their 4-3 win over Allison Flaxey (Caledon, ON). |
