Kerri Einarson wins Mother Club Fall Curling Classic
Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) wins the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic, defeating Allison Flaxey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7-0 at the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. Einarson with Val Sweeting at third, Shannon Birchard and Briane Meilleur on the front end take home the $2,000CDN first place cheque along with 31.131 world ranking points, while Flaxey receives $1,600CDN and 22.829 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Einarson scored 1 in the first end, then added a steal of 5 in the second end with one more in the third end for early handshakes and the 7-0 win. In the semifinals, Einarson defeated Jie Mei (Beijing, China) 7-2 and Flaxey defeated Beth Peterson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-0. Peterson and Mei earned $1,200CDN and 17.641 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Einarson defeated Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 5-0, Flaxey defeated Joelle Brown (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 9-2, while Mei defeated Abby Ackland (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-2 and Peterson defeated Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7-6. Brown, Clark-Rouire, Ackland and Robertson earned $750CDN along with 12.452 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Einarson went 5-0 in the 18 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Einarson defeated Deb McCreanor (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7-4, then won against Kim Rhyme (St. Paul, USA) 7-2, Rachel Burtnyk (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7-1, Peterson 7-6, and against Clark-Rouire 7-2 to go undefeated in the qualifying round. |
