Garcia/Bottcher wins CCT Dutch Masters Mixed Doubles
Irantzu Garcia/Brendan Bottcher (Vitoria-Gasteiz, ESP/Edmonton, CAN) wins the CCT Dutch Masters Mixed Doubles, defeating Oihane Otaegi/Mikel Unanue (San Sebastian, ESP) 4-3. Starting with hammer, Garcia/Bottcher scored 2 in the first end, then forced Otaegi/Unanue to a single in the second end. After a blank end, Garcia/Bottcher scored a single the fourth end to extend the lead to 3-1, then forced Otaegi/Unanue to a single in the fifth end. Garcia/Bottcher scored a single in the sixth end, then forced Otaegi/Unanue to a single in the seventh end holding on for the 4-3 win. In the semifinals, Garcia/Bottcher defeated Michele Jaeggi/Sven Michel (Bern, SUI) 5-3 and Otaegi/Unanue defeated Kristin Moen Skaslien/Magnus Nedregotten (Oslo, NOR) 8-6. In the quarterfinals, Jaeggi/Michel defeated Anastasia Bryzgalova/Alexander Krushelnitskiy (St. Petersburg, RUS) 8-6 and Skaslien/Nedregotten defeated Ildiko Szekeres/Gyeorgy Nagy (Budapest, HUN) 8-3. Garcia/Bottcher went 4-0 in the 15 team round-robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Garcia/Bottcher defeated Szekeres/Nagy 6-3, then won against Jayne Stirling/Fraser Kingan (Aberdeen, SCO) 9-1, then won against Santa Blumberga/Ritvars Gulbis (Riga, LAT) 8-7, then won against Clare Moores/Lance Wheeler (Denver, CO) 8-6 in their final qualifying round match. ----------------------- ISS Ice, Sports & Solar is title sponsor of the ISS WORLD MIXED DOUBLES TOUR.
