Time for old Rockhead to Weigh In
Afternoon!
Howard - probably has already hit the teams peak but nonetheless is second to none in the province
Middaugh - hanging around for the entertainment. Not a serious threat any longer on the world scale.
Corner - I'm glad to hear they're going to play in more. These players all have the talent; just a matter of putting it all together and hitting their stride at the right time. Tet certainly isn't what he used to be though.
Frans - going to be surprised when they don't finish as strong as they did last year. I think this team is better than last year's I just don't think they have what it takes.
Matchett - a very good showing at the Players these guys could very well compete at provincials next year.
Balsdon - this is certainly intriguing. I think they have the capacity to take Balsy to the next level. What level is that? Winning 3 or 4 spiels instead of 2. Beyond that probably a 3-4 birth at provincials.
The next "level" of squads that may be ready to make a jump in results ... keep an eye out for these teams:
Bice - was it the right move to move Grant to 2nd? Either way I think rank among the best young talent coming up in the ranks.
Warren - another trip to the Brick with his addition of St.Denis? Strong front end also. .500 at provs wouldn't be a surprise for this squad
Higgs - I don't see them repeating their strong season last year. They'll do well but will have to wait another year or two to repeat their successes. That's curling!
Gardner - A bit of a shocker to make the show this year. They have it in them to win a spiel or two but they won't have the same cake walk to get to provs this year. Then again it's region 1.....
Prebble - These guys are as hot and cold as anything out there. One week they qualify at a WCT event, next week they go 0 for at a C spiel. I dont' get it. I can see a provincial berth coming their way though. They've been together long enough now.
Enjoy the summer all!
Rockhead

Hey Rockhead,
What is the problem with Region 1? We have sent just as many teams to the Brier as Region 4. Have you even ever played in a men's provincial? That's what I thought!!

Whats wrong with the ferris team? They have yet to qualify-OCT went 0-4, KW went 3-2 losing a B qualifier, Barrie and Brampton were poor showings (1-4). Replaced Scott McGregor already. Is it bad chemistry? Front ends lack of experience? The very good backend not coming through? hopefully they can get it together this weekend in Whitby and gets some confidence going...should be doing better! Expected a little more from the Bice team by now too. Hopefully they will get untrack in Whitby as well.
No major surprises at the top so far. Conner and Matchett leading the way with Balsdon and Higgs playing well. Frans and Zoila qualifying regularly as well. Rumfeldt and Grant having good years! Where is this year's sleeper (or who will it be)?

Derek finished with Gardner after the Shorty. Gardner has been picking up spares since. Whether Mike is permanent (for playdowns) remains to be seen

Great field in Whitby. A lot of quality teams (on paper) that were out early ... Frans, Lobel, Prebble, Warren, Ziola etc etc. The list goes on and on.
Looks to me like the province is getting better with young teams coming up and taking away spots from a lot of guys that have made some names for themselves.
Maybe a changing of the guard in the mix?
Good luck to all on Sunday!

Harris is just a one weekend thing. Rumours are though that Mike Aprile is joining Gardner as Guerts isn't doing zones.

Define 'so many people' ? Or is this more online garbage trolling? They're one of top teams in the country according to the CTRS, and I'd say about 95% of the people that matter give them their due accordingly.
