Re: Brit Olympic decision
You're joking.... You can't put an olympic curling team together like that this soon before the games, they've never played as a team before and they're going to the olympics in a couple weeks? They'll get ruined!

Hopefully your thinking doesn't apply to hockey teams.
They have been playing together a bit. At the National Grand Slam for example. That being said I do tend to agree that an All-star team is less likely to work in curling than in most sports.

Duct Tape,
you do know that they've been playing together with the same group of 10 all year with the idea that the team would be picked so late ... also many of the players have played together in the past. I think the idea has a lot more credibility than most people think ... sure it's not the traditional way, but it also prove to be better. This sort of thing has been tried in Canada before ... but never with the best players in the country. I think both teams will do very well ... but I still think Canada will win!!!!

well, if they've had some experience that way it will help a bit, but how many competitive games have they played as a unit? Also having four skips on the team, it's quite possible you'll start getting strategy clashes and disagreements

I personally would have gone with the Brewster boys. I agree with some other posters in that it's not a good way to decide on a team. All the better for Canada, I suppose.

I'll agree with that for sure ... four skips never works as well as you think it would. Even if they do manage not to bicker about strategy ... what about the sweeping? Now they all look like fit individuals, but there's a lot of practice and experience involved in judging weight ... especially on a draw to the pin to win a game.
