Burtnyk is in limbo. At least he's indicated to the media that he's done with major league curling. However, he's done that before and got juiced up when he felt he had a chance. This year was his last chance. I think he'll be 53 during next year's events so I don't know if anyone wants to be on a team that might have to struggle to win a zone then see Burt disappoint in the Tankard with a few too many missed shots.
But the guy is still a force. If your intention is just to get to the Tankard then Burtnyk is a good ticket. If you wanna take the province, not such a great idea.
If he comes back Burtnyk might be advised to do a Ferbey, ie. call the game but toss third stones......I think he'll be recreational curler next year and maybe take a team into the seniors or mca BUT no major league cash curling, no zone or club curling.....

How am I still on the list from a year or two ago? lol
I didn't curl this year much as I was moving to Macau (near Hong Kong), but it got delayed. Moving there for this coming August, so maybe I can commute for some curling games? It's only a 22 hour flight

Justin Stanus and Nolan Bradshaw are looking for a front end player for next season. As of now, we are looking to possibly play a few MCT events, MCA, zones, and play regularly in a men's league at the Fort Rouge.

Stoughton just got real good again. Jon Mead and Jeff won 3 provincial titles, a tour championship and within a whisker of winning the trials, looks like Mcewen and the boys may have to wait another year

Jeff is a master of dominating other manitoba teams but he's getting increasingly sterner tests from guys like McEwen and Gunnlaugson. Won't have to worry about Reid Carruthers cuz Reid is curling with him this year. I'd like to see how McEwen does vs. Jeff if Mike and the gang get a bit tougher and develop some killer instinct like Koe, Martin, Howard.
Jeff will also get a stiff test from his former third, Kevin Park if Park stays around Manitoba and forms a quality group. Park is a shooter, make no mistake about it and he'll fit nicely into the TOP 4 or 5 in Manitoba (ie. Stoughty, McEwen, Park, Gunnlaugson, Ken Watson)
