(Nov 9, 2009) -- Hollie Nicol and her Kitchener-Waterloo team of Danielle Inglis, Kate Hamer and Hilary McDermot won the women's edition of the Mount Lawn Classic with a 9-5 win over Carrie Lindner of Bradford. The matchup pitted two teams who have arguably underachieved this season against each other, but seem to have found the right time to come alive with zones around the corner.
Nicol defeated Jan Carwardine of Toronto 6-5 in the semifinals by stealing a single point in the extra end, while Lindner upset Cathy Auld of Toronto by a score of 5-3 in their semifinal matchup. All four teams came into the Playoffs after going 4-1 in their pools, with Auld and Nicol advancing as the pool winners due to their head to head record. |
