Ingersoll Clash Returns This Weekend!
Source:  Ingersoll Clash Release

(Oct 1, 2009) -- Sponsored by: ERTH Corp. and Execulink Telecom

On October 1st to 4th the Ingersoll District Curling Club will be hosting its Annual Ingersoll “Clash” Classic Spiel. Forty competitive Men’s’ and Ladies’ teams will be in the hunt for $22,000 in cash. These teams have a great mix of youth and experience and feature some top curling names. The sponsors again will be Execulink Telecom and Erie Thames Power (ERTH Corp). The public is invited to watch at no cost.

The action begins at 5:00 pm on the 1st and continues until a Ladies’ and Mens’ Champion is determined on the 4th following the afternoon final. Draws will run morning, afternoon and evening each day.

The organizing committee has worked hard to obtain a talented and competitive field. Two of the top teams will be skipped by Guy Hemmings and Anne Dunn. The ever recognizable Hemmings, two-time Brier Finalist and all-around fan favourite will be here with his Quebec team in search of the Men’s Championship. Anne Dunn, from Cambridge, 4 time Canadian Senior Champ, 2 time World Senior Champ and Scotties TOH participant and Hollie Nicol, 2-time Canadian University Champion will also participate in hopes of winning the Ladies’ Event. In addition there are many past Ontario Champions and Provincial Finalists playing.

Come and watch a few games and get a couple of pointers. This should be a very competitive field and all games should be fun to watch. The event has grown into a top event on the Ontario Curling Tour (OCT). We are proudly supported by the OCT. To find out more about the tour visit their website at http://www.ontariocurlingtour.com/

The “Clash” should also provide an indication of the caliber of curling the Brier will offer when it comes to the JLC in March 2011. Perhaps one of the teams from the “Clash” will be participating!

Curling is widely known for its fun and appeal among television viewers. It attracts people from all walks of life, is an inexpensive, enjoyable and competitive sport that anyone can play. We are hoping that by coming out to watch the “Clash” we can get you hooked to visit the Ingersoll District Curling Club’s open week scheduled from Oct 5th to the 9th. Free instruction clinics will be offered on the 10th and 11th. Information about membership options will be available.

Please accept our invitation to visit our club, watch the best and then learn how to become the best yourself! Any person can find enjoyment at some level in curling and the Ingersoll District Curling Club wants you to come and try – all you have to do is try we give you the enjoyment for free!
