(Nov 19, 2008) -- TORONTO, November 19, 2008 – Insight Sports announced today that Grey Power has been awarded title sponsorship of the Players’ Championship, the eighth and final event of the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling series. As the property’s title sponsor, the annual joint men’s and women’s event has been renamed the Grey Power Players’ Championship.
The 2009 Grey Power Players’ Championship is scheduled to take place from April 14-19 at the Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie, Alta. The tournament will be the final opportunity for Canada’s curling teams to earn points towards securing a berth at the 2009 Canadian Trials.

Held annually since 2001-02, the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling is a series of eight premier men’s and women’s events that feature Canada’s deepest and strongest curling fields.
Among the top Canadian men’s and women’s skips who compete in the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling events include World Champions Kevin Martin (Edmonton, Alta.), Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, Man.), Glenn Howard (Coldwater, Ont.), Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, Alta.), Kelly Scott (Kelowna, B.C.), Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, Man.), Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, Man.), Wayne Middaugh (Midland, Ont.), Greg McAulay (Richmond, B.C.), as well as Olympic gold medallist Brad Gushue (St. John’s, Nfld.) and Olympic bronze medallist Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, Alta.).
The Capital One Grand Slam of Curling events are closely tied to the Canadian Curling Association\'s qualifying process for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Through their performance in the Grand Slam events, rinks can earn a significant amount of points towards securing a berth at the 2009 Canadian Trials.
