(Feb 15, 2005) -- CBC Television is pleased to announce an agreement with The Score for select broadcasts of Championship Curling this season. Under the terms of the agreement, The Score will air two round-robin draws live in prime time from the Scott Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier, and one from the Ford World Men’s Curling Championships, in 2005.
“We want to ensure that curling fans have more access to the draws they want to see,” explained Nancy Lee, executive director, CBC Sports. “Viewers will already see comprehensive coverage on CBC Television and CBC Country Canada. Moving these draws to The Score creates a whole new dimension to the options available for curling fans to see games live, and in prime time.”
“The Score is committed to bringing compelling live programming to viewers. Through this new relationship with the Canadian Curling Association and CBC Sports, we are able to accomplish exactly that,” said Anthony Cicione, vice-president of programming and production for The Score.
“The Canadian Curling Association is pleased to endorse the CBC’s decision to involve The Score with the Season of Champions events in 2005,” said Dave Parkes, CEO of the CCA. “The Score telecasts will complement the coverage of CBC and Country Canada and will extend the reach of the Season of Champions telecasts in 2005, which is a bonus for curling fans across Canada.”
This past July, the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) announced a four-year agreement with CBC to broadcast the CCA’s Season of Champions in Canada from 2005 to 2008. The Season of Champions events currently consist of the Continental Cup, Karcher Juniors, Scott Tournament of Hearts, Tim Hortons Brier, Strauss Canada Cup of Curling, Ford World Men’s Curling Championships, the World Women’s Curling Championships and the Tim Hortons Canadian Curling Trials.
