I have been a big fan of Granite since it's inception several years ago, and now with Granite 2, it's even better.
I can honestly say my shot calling has improved immensely since I started using it to play against the computer.
There are always going to be glitches, but over-all, It's been a terrific aid for me. |

So you're saying it's very realistic? |

Use the FREE curling game at the fly or die game site on the internet - practice or play others mode - really good game other than the hits aren't perfect and some of the people you will play are pretty annoying.. |

We have the Wii curling and in my opinion it sucks. The control isn't close to being sensitive enough.
I have a couple of PC curling games....fun....but you don't have much interaction except calling the shots. |

There is a computer curling game that is really good!!! I purchased it from the Asham store in Winnipeg, MB. They do have a website that you would be able to get it from. |

I've played 2 curling games on the Wii. The first one was part of Winter Sports Challenge and the controls for that one are ported over from another platform and are very badly implemented. The second one is part of DECA Sports and the controls are much better BUT they come across like a bad port also to be honest. The Wii game controller's forward motion velocity sensor does not appear to be used, so an old school "skill" (or timing) control is used in it's place to control weight (or a power bar) and like most ported games it uses the A and B buttons but that is a far cry from a "real" Wii game, programmed FOR the Wii, and it shows.
It uses the tilt oddly enough, so they had the APIs (or application programming interfaces) so why they couldn't have put the same momentum sensor to use that Wii Sports Bowling uses, I can't imagine.
I'm still waiting for a nice fully Wii-fied curling game that uses Miis - that would be great.
As a side note, I've also got a curling game on my blackberry called Curling Challenge and it's pretty nice for a mobile game in case anyone wants to give that a try. |

lol Curling on the wii is ridiculously easy.. For the Deca-Sports one, which has 6 rocks per end, I stole 6 in an end twice in a row haha. The computer sucks at that game. It is pretty hard to throw any kind of takeout weight. At best you can get maybe hack weight. Most of the time I throw the rocks without any turn.. It is much easier that way since they have perfect line every time they come out, and the rocks don't pick up a turn randomly like they would in real life. Still lots of fun though.

Some different ice conditions would also be a nice feature. One can dream right . . . ?
Yes that is my dream! I've already written out quite a few pages in a notebook I have on some of the specifics that should be in a curling video game. |

There are THREE people on a team?
This is what comes from the CCA removing stats! ;-) |

I agree, Procurl was fun and easy to play. If anyone has a copy, I would like to download it as well.

Milobloom, I remember ProCurl. That game was great. I would love to get a copy of it (that I could play on my mac...). |

The curling team I coached had asked me why there was no curling game for wii and i figured it was only a matter of time. My only thought was it could be so close to bowling. Hearing all the comments on it makes me sad. I mean the bowling is a huge success with many retirement homes having huge leagues and many other leagues like monday night social down at the bowlarama. I think it's interesting to note that you still throw 3 balls at the same amount of pins. Makes you wonder??? |

Curling on the Wii sucks really bad! It is not realistic at all. I would rather play real curling. Oh even if you but a gun to my head I wouldn't play Curling on the Wii ever again since I first played it at a friends house... Honestly I'd rather get shot in the kneecap...its worse the the curling computer games...

I've always wondered why on curling video games so many turn it into 4 rocks, or 6 rocks, or make the rocks bigger, etc.
I've been hearing about this game for a while, maybe one of the curling clubs that have a wii will bring it in so I can try it out

I have played the wii curling. all in all not bad. graphics are better then I expected it to be.
pros:
graphics good
you control the sweeping
you determine handle
you can select a right or left hand player
cons:
hard to control weight (ie cant always get consistant hit weight)
sweeping stops after the rock makes contact with any other rock
cant sweep opponets rocks after the t-line
For a first real good main stream attempt at curling in a video game I would give it 7/10 a little fine tuning and this could be a solid game.

I hope this Wii curling game is better than the curling game that came with the Winter Sports Ultimate Challenge. Has anyone tried it? It is awful. I had a hard time putting a turn on my rock as well as throwing enough weight for take outs, mind you they ended up to be darn good freezes. It is sad that something like this comes out as it is a poor example of our sport. |

I have this game!
It is actually quite fun, especially with a large group of people. The ice is pretty realistic, but you do only through 6 rocks per end. To sweep you shake/sweep the wii remote, and you twist the remote when you release the stone to put curl on it, just like real life.
Playing against the computer on hard is sometimes challenging, it depends on which computer team you play. |

I recall a great little PC game we use to play, I think it was called ProCurl (could be wrong) circa 1993-94. Anyone remember it? It was actually quite good. Anyone else encounter this game or something else that they remember had decent game play. |
