Description:
The inaugural Canada Cup of Curling will be held in Kamloops at Sport Mart Place, January 8-12, 2003. The Canada Cup will involve 10 men's and 10 women's teams competing in round-robin preliminaries leading to a Page system playoff to determine a champion. In each division, men and women will be divided into two groups of five with the top two teams in each group advancing to the playoffs. The total purse money for the event will be $220,000 ($110,000 for each of the men's and women's divisions). We believe this to be the largest purse ever for a curling event and the first time men and women will receive equal prize money.
