Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) won 5-4 over Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 14 - 17, 2017 in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Morozumi won 7-1 over Patric Mabergs (Skelleftea, SWE) in the semifinals of the 2017 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan; and won 6-3 over Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) in the quarterfinals.
 
Morozumi finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi defeated Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) 10-7, then won 5-4 against Hayato Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN) and 8-4 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). Morozumi won 7-2 against Kenji Komoda (Sagamihara, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Morozumi earned 28.482 world rankings points along with the $11,422CDN first prize cheque.
