Walstad won against Hamish Gallacher (Dumfries, SCO) 5-0, then won against Marc Muskatewitz (Baden Baden, GER) 12-5 in their final qualifying round match. Walstad needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, In their opening game, Walstad defeated Ramsfjell 10-3.
