Rob Armitage (Red Deer, AB) lost 8-3 to Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Red Deer Curling Classic, held November 6 - 9, 2009 in Red Deer, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Armitage won 10-5 over Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2009 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 7-6 over Switzerland's Markus Eggler in the quarterfinals.
 
Armitage finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Armitage lost 9-6 to Warren Hassall (Lloydminster, SK), droppimg another game, 9-3 to Jamie King (Edmonton, AB) where Armitage responded with a 9-0 win over Don DeLair (Calgary, AB). Armitage won 6-5 against Lowell Peterman (Red Deer, AB), then won 7-4 against Dean Ross (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Red Deer Curling Classic, Armitage take home 13.850 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Armitage did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Armitage ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
